Is Counselling for Me? How does it work?
By providing you with the right environment, Counselling offers you:
- An opportunity to take time to explore your thoughts and feelings.
- Help to acknowledge and understand your thoughts and feelings and to view them from
a different perspective.
- The skills required to manage your thoughts and feelings, and to modify inappropriate
behaviour.
What does a Counsellor do?
The therapeutic relationship between you and your Counsellor is very important as
it is through this relationship that the work is done to bring about effective change.
Person Centred Counselling is, at it’s heart, a relationship therapy. It believes
in the uniqueness of the individual and in their ability to effect change.
As a Person Centred Counsellor I am here to help you to develop the necessary skills
to enable you to live a more fulfilled life.
I do this by:
- Listening carefully to what you have to say without passing judgement or giving advice.
- Working alongside you to support you as you explore your life experiences and become
more aware of your thoughts and feelings.
- Respecting your therapeutic needs by recognising the pace at which you wish to work
- Offering various ways of working in order to facilitate your therapy.
